Overview

Armadillidium Granulatum otherwise known as the Granulated isopod, are a robust and visually interesting species that can work well as both a bioactive clean-up crew or as a pet. Native to Southwestern Europe, these bumpy isopods are suited to dryer environments but are adaptable and hardy. Once established, they are prolific breeders that make them a reliable option for beginners looking for a bit more excitement than other similar difficulty species.

Wild type granulated isopods sport grey exoskeletons covered in a mottled yellow patterning. These spots are highly variable, with some showing little at all to nearly being covered in yellow. Occasionally they will pop out in various colour tints from brown, olive green and blue.

  • All of our isopods are captive bred. We do not sell wild caught specimens.
  • Some isopods, which will be clearly indicated, are bred out from personally wild caught colonies. These are self produced and will be several generations in to mitigate for any wild born nasties, but please be aware this will not be suitable for use as custodians.
  • Isopods will be provided in a mix of sizes to help with the start of your colony. These will be juveniles and adults. If you receive any babies, they do not count towards the total count as bought. They’re little bonuses!
  • We understand that sometimes the travel and change of environment can cause a few isopods to bite the dust. To make up for losses, we ship with additional counts.
  • Our isopods are kept on a coco coir and soil mix, with access to decaying leaves, moss and charcoal. All have been kept with ample hiding spaces to mimic their natural environments. We feed them on a varied diet of decaying wood cuttlefish bone, fish food and specifically prepared isopod supplements.
  • All isopods are shipped out with Royal Mail, either Tracked 24 or Special Delivery by 1pm as per buyers choice.
  • Only Special Delivery 1pm has our “DOA” guarantee. If you receive an order this way with DOA that reduces you to less than your purchased amount, please contact us immediately. Tracked 24 does not have this guarantee (For more information, see the full FAQ available on our contact page).
  • Shipment dates are Tuesday and Thursdays. If you require a specific delivery date, please contact us before you order.
